World class floorball in Zurich
Lords of Floorball
The “Lords of Floorball” are coming: the world’s four best floorball nations meet in the “Saalsporthalle” from February 1 to 3, 2008.
World Champions Sweden, runners-up Finland, Switzerland, the bronze medal winners, and the fourth-placed Czech Republic team: from February 1 to 3, Zurich will host the crème de la crème of men’s international floorball. The Lords of Floorball will be present in flesh and blood in Switzerland. February’s internationals in Zurich conclude the first Euro Floorball Tour that was established in 2006 by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland agreed to arrange this series of tournaments – with international games every November and every February at alternating venues. Following Espoo (Finnland/November 2006), Gothenburg (Sweden/February 2007) and Ostrava (Czech Republic/November 2007) the men’s tournaments end in Zurich in February 2008.
The match times have been arranged to ensure the best media coverage – at the special request of Swiss TV station SF the game between Switzerland and World Champions Sweden will be held on Sunday afternoon. Switzerland’s national floorball team has never been able to get the better of Sweden. When the top four last met in November 2007 Peter Düggeli and René Berliat’s team were defeated by Sweden (2:5) and Finland (2:3), and won against the Czech Republic by 5 goals to 4 (after leading 3:0, 4:1 and 5:2).
